The corporate world still has Christian women.
It still has principled girls.
It still has sober women.
Women who are building careers without sleeping their way into opportunities.
Women who are getting promoted because they are competent.
Women who are sitting in powerful rooms without compromising who they are to remain there.
Women who can travel for work, attend corporate dinners, go to conferences and networking events, and still maintain their boundaries.
Women who don’t drink and don’t feel pressured to start because everybody at the table has a glass.
Women who can say, “No, thank you,” without feeling the need to explain themselves.
Women who don’t participate in office affairs because “that’s just how corporate is.”
Women who refuse inappropriate advances even when those advances are coming from someone who could change their career.
Women who will not gossip their way into belonging.
Women who will not destroy another woman’s name to secure a position.
Women who handle company money with integrity.
Women who can be trusted with confidential information.
Women whose Christianity doesn’t only appear in their bios and Sunday posts, but quietly shows up in how they work.
And I think we need to say this because sometimes the stories about corporate spaces can become so loud that a young girl entering the workplace begins to believe that compromise is simply part of becoming successful.
It isn’t.
You can build a beautiful career and still have boundaries.
You can become an executive and still fear God.
You can earn well and still have integrity.
You can network without compromising yourself.
You can be fashionable, confident, brilliant and ambitious while remaining deeply principled.
You can enter rooms where everybody is doing something and still comfortably say:
“That’s not for me.”
And perhaps nobody will clap for you.
Sometimes maintaining your principles will actually make you look strange.
That’s okay.
Because the goal isn’t to become successful at the expense of becoming someone you no longer recognise.
So to the young girl preparing to enter corporate spaces:
Please don’t enter already believing that everybody has compromised.
They haven’t.
There are women quietly building remarkable careers while maintaining their convictions.
There are women whose qualifications are real.
Whose promotions are deserved.
Whose work speaks.
Whose boundaries remain intact.
Whose faith remains alive.
Whose “no” still means no.
The corporate world still has Christian women.
It still has principled girls.
It still has sober women.
And there is absolutely nothing outdated about becoming one of them.
